St. Paul Harley-Davidson® is an institution in the Minnesota motorcycling community, rich in history and tradition. At a time when motorcycles were just starting to grow in popularity, a man named Howard W. Belmont became passionate about the developing sport at a young age, and in 1939, Howard’s mother took out a mortgage on their home so that he could open the motorcycle shop that is now St. Paul Harley-Davidson®, incorporated in 1945. Howard’s business opened at 277 West Seventh Street in Saint Paul and quickly became a community landmark.
The business thrived through the 1950s and 60s, and in the early 70’s, it moved to a larger location on West Seventh Street. Like many Harley-Davidson® dealers, the business struggled through the AMF era but survived and in 1981, Howard Belmont sold the business. St. Paul Harley-Davidson® was then relocated to Geneva Ave and in 1997 moved again to its current location. In August of 2018, it was acquired by Defcon Powersports based out of Tulsa, OK. Defcon Powersports is a world class organization whose main focus is providing the highest caliber customer service, hands down.
St. Paul Harley-Davidson® has grown to be the largest volume dealer in the greater Twin Cities area and is proud to serve the motorcyclists of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Boasting unmatched inventory, quality pre-owned motorcycles and a customer service experience second to none,
St. Paul Harley-Davidson® continues to be an institution among in the motorcycling community and remains true to its roots as a family business, dedicated to the love of all things Harley-Davidson®. Howard W. Belmont passed in 1989 but his legacy lives on in the world of St. Paul Harley-Davidson®
